Ionia Public Schools does it all!  We offer academics, athletics, co-curriculars, gifted and talented, special needs, vocational/technological training, transportation, breakfast, lunch, nursing services, at-risk programs, mentoring, extended day tutorial, early childhood, technology, curriculum review, assessment, and summer school!

And Ionia Public Schools offers more.   Ionia students have the opportunity to help operate a restaurant and a dental clinic open to the public.  They step outside their classrooms to cadet teach for younger children and serve as aides in offices and in classrooms.  And Ionia Public Schools does it all on a relatively modest budget.

Without hesitation, Ionia Public Schools credits the support of community for help with the significant gains the district has experienced. Cooperative relations with parents and non-parents, professionals, business and industry leaders, government officials, senior citizens and concerned residents have led to partnerships, extensive volunteerism, open communication, advisory councils, and high interest in school functions.  Bolstered by this spirit of cooperation, the community has invested more than $60 million in its school facilities in the past 20 years.  Most recently, Ionia Public School voters approved a $16.67 million bond issue for facility renovations, technology, security cameras, buses, and a new outdoor stadium.

A solid school system  is one important reason why  Ionia is an ideal community in which to live, to work, and to raise a family. There are more attractions.  Located midway between Grand Rapids and Lansing, 30 miles either way, Ionia mixes the advantages of small town living with  convenient,  easy  access to big city amenities.  The area offers excellent recreation facilities, abundant historic homes, expanding business and industry, and fine, hard working citizens.

Ionia is a "Community of Promise" dedicated to providing all youth with the five basic resources espoused by the national movement headed by General Colin Powell.

Service clubs, organizations and churches take an active leadership role in the community and have built alliances with Ionia Public Schools.  Ionia County Memorial Hospital, with its renovated emergency and outpatient facilities, is dedicated to meeting health care needs of residents.  Safety is a top concern for all local law enforcement agencies, with a focus on training and prevention.  A number of excellent colleges, community colleges, and universities are within commuting distance.

The Sentinel-Standard is Ionia's daily newspaper.  The Ionia Area State Recreation Area, Bertha Brock Park, the Grand River, Fun Forest, Hall-Fowler Library, Ionia Theatre, Rivertrail,  YMCA, area lakes, golf courses, and more, including City Recreation and Ionia Public School facilities, offer recreation opportunities for everyone.

Our schools and community are moving forward together with a common vision for students of all ages who must enter the workforce well-prepared and capable of contributing to their community and their own personal well being.
