Message from the Director

   Information Technology Systems play a key role at Ionia Public Schools.  Our network has expanded with the implementation of a district wide fiber optic network. Greater bandwidth within our schools will provide expanded learning opportunities for our students.  Students in grades K-5 use the Success Maker Program, an integrated learning system, to complete math and reading at individualized levels.  Accelerated Reader and the Star Program, which also chart student progress on a regular basis, are available to all elementary and middle school students,  All computers, whether in classrooms, labs or offices, are networked.  Students have internet access for research and references as well as equipment for multi-media and broadcast journalism. The district has made it a priority to purchase state of art network electronics and quality computer hardware and software.  Technology is well integrated into the curriculum.  Audio enhancement equipment has been installed in every elementary classroom in the district. Teachers keep records using the electronic gradebook and student discipline software, making it possible for students to use the Student Viewer to monitor progress and grades and to obtain homework assignments.  Likewise parents can keep a close eye on their child's attendance, test and homework grades, and missing assignments using the Parent Internet Viewer from their home computers. Many teachers received a laptop, digital camera, scanner, or other valuable equipment in the statewide Teacher Technology Initiative.  Because of the TTI and ongoing training, teachers in the district have grown more and more proficient and comfortable with the technology available for teaching and learning.
